Do I need to be nominated to sign up for e-OSCAR?
No, you don’t need to be nominated to sign up for e-OSCAR 🙂 . But if you are a data furnisher it is absolutely necessary for you to sign up with e-OSCAR.
This blog will cover some of the basic topics with regards to e-OSCAR.
What is e-OSCAR?
e-OSCAR is an online (internet) system that allows data furnishers like you to respond to consumer credit disputes.
Why do I need to sign up with e-OSCAR?
e-OSCAR is the system for data furnisher to view, correct and update their customers credit disputes. For example, if you have been reporting one of your customers as delinquent but if that customer believes the date of first delinquency is being reported incorrectly, the customer would then create a dispute with the credit bureau. The credit bureau in turn will create a dispute and assign it to you. You will have 30 days to respond to the dispute. If you do not respond during this time frame, the information must be modified as requested by the customer or deleted. Therefore it is highly important to respond and take action on disputes in a timely manner.
How much does it cost to sign up with e-OSCAR?
The cost to register for e-OSCAR is $90.
How to sign up for e-OSCAR?
Step 1: Contact the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, Innovis) to which your company reports consumer data.
Step 2: Obtain the Access Code and Subscriber Code(s) from each of those credit bureau(s).
Step 3: Visit http://www.e-OSCAR-web.net and select the Registration link.
Step 4: Follow the prompts and complete the registration, submit your payment.
Step 5: e-OSCAR team will usually respond within 2 to 4 weeks.
How often should I check e-OSCAR for disputes?
We usually recommend to check e-OSCAR for disputes at least once in two weeks.
